Looking for the perfect gift?

For Christmas, a much loved one gave me a subscription of the magazine “Vogue knitting”. I can truly recommend a subscription of a magazine as a gift for any crafty crazy person (but see that you pick a magazine that fit that person and not a sewing magazine for an only knitter etc). However, if you live in Stockholm it seems Vogue knitting isn’t the best magazine to pick. I received the winter issue in Mars, when the spring issue was found in the stores, which I haven’t received at all... Fortunately they had some free patterns on their homepage to cheer me up. :) I like the silver streaks and the silver belle. http://www.vogueknitting.com/vkm/?q=node/403

Cross stitch; Star Wars and Andy Warhol

I wanted to create something from the star wars saga that could be decorative, and appreciated by both star wars fans and less amused. :) Using patterns found at http://www.angelfire.com/space2/swcharts/ I made a collection of Andy Warhol inspired cross stitch pictures of the rebellion emblem. I haven’t figured out how to frame them yet… I’ve also used the empire and rebellion emblems as patterns for pillowcases with application work. The pillows are large to work as pillows to sit on. Now it’s really time to pick side!

May the creative force be with you! ;)

Why a blog about science and creativity?

I decided to start this blog to share my sources of inspiration and my moments of creativity. Contrary to popular belief, research is a creative field just like knitting and sewing. What I work on with my mind as a researcher and the work I do with my hands on my spare time are equally entwined. But don't worry; this blog will focus on the more hands-on part of my creativity! ;)
